Video: Showgirls Recut Trailer

2.09.2011 11.38

Hey there,

Just wanted to share with you a fanedit I made over the weekend. So, it's been said that the Inception trailer music (Mind Heist by Zack Hemsey) can make any movie seem better. So I dove into the deep, dark depths of cinema in search of great bad movie in order to see if this theory was true. I'm incredibly pleased to report, after a few hours of editing, the Inception trailer music does, in fact, make any movie seem better.

Actually, my recut trailer sort of draws to surface the themes and ideas that director Paul Verhoeven and writer Joe Eszterhas really wanted to convey -- the film is a visually alluring camp-fest seasoned with silly dialogue, bizarre images and a skewed Christ parable. Well played, gentlemen.

Credit to MGM/Fox for the film. If this trailer whets your appetite, buy the movie! It's on Blu-ray now, too! Credit also goes to Zack Hemsey for composing such a masterful song. And to Christopher Nolan and Warner Brothers for being awesome and introducing the world to Mind Heist in the trailer for Inception.

Be warned: NSFW! ...unless the people at your office are cool. This is an recut trailer for Showgirls. The film is rated NC-17. This trailer has nudity galore.

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams...literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

Alien Anthology coming to Blu-ray October 26!!

7.15.2010 22.21

Fox takes a lot of heat from many Blu-ray review sites out there, some it justified, too, but I've always been a defender. They do stumble on occasion ("Predator," for example), but they also consistently provide solid catalog tiles and great new releases filled with reference A/V presentation and stellar goodies that take full advantage of what the format has to offer.

Well, they're only improving so it seems. 2010 will officially bring us "The Alien Anthology" on Blu-ray! And this is one helluva great set, loaded with extras ported over from the nine-disc "Alien Quadrilogy" boxset, plus what looks to be hours of new bonus material including the uncut, extended version of Charles de Lauzirika's making-of documentary for "Alien 3."

Even better, the infamous "Burke Cocoon Sequence" is FINALLY seeing the light of day! That's among a very short list of sought after treasures in the deleted scenes world. Very exciting that Fox is putting that on the disc. I had heard James Cameron destroyed the scene.

So, without further ado, here's the full press release for the "Alien Anthology" - it's a doozy:

Alien Anthology

The Ultimate Collection Featuring All Four ALIEN Films Hatches On Blu-ray from October 26 With Never-Before-Seen Bonus Material And The Debut Of The Exclusive and Groundbreaking Interactive Experience, MU-TH-UR Mode

Fans Have A Chance To Board The Nostromo During Comic-Con At Booth #3528 And Enter The Hibernation Chamber Of The Doomed Intergalactic Crew

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 15, 2010) – Sometimes, the scariest things come from within. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presents one of the most successful and terrifying film franchises of all time when the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY debuts on Blu-ray for the first time ever from October 25 internationally and on October 26 in North America. All four ALIEN films have been reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience. The release also marks the debut of MU-TH-UR Mode, a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive materials in the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY and puts them in the user’s hand – connecting fans to special features on all six discs and instantly providing an index of all available ALIEN content, including over 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is a truly unique home entertainment experience. For the first time ever, the studio has united the material from every home video release of the ALIEN saga including the 1991/1992 laserdisc releases, the 1999 “Legacy” release and 2003’s groundbreaking ALIEN QUADRILOGY release into one complete Blu-ray collection. The set also includes two versions of each film and over four hours of previously unreleased exclusive material such as original screentests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original ALIEN, unseen deleted scenes, thousands of still photographs from the Fox archives, the previously unseen original cut of “Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3,” and much, much more.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY will be available for a suggested retail price of $139.99 U.S. / $179.99 Canada. Prebook is September 22.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is just one aspect of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s yearlong campaign to honor the studio’s 75th birthday. This year the division will debut several select fan-favorites on Blu-ray for the first time ever including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, The Last of the Mohicans and The Sound of Music.
